Staff HiL Software Infrastructure Engineer (Robotics): Leading the development of a modular, rack-based Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) ecosystem for next-generation humanoid robots with an accent on real-time simulation models, CI/CD pipelines, and hardware interface libraries. Focus on building scalable test automation frameworks, ensuring deterministic test environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define signal mapping and fault injection strategies.
Location: Hybrid position based in Fremont, CA. Must have current authorization to work in the United States.
Salary: $190,000–$247,000 USD

What you will do
- Design and scale test automation frameworks for continuous firmware and software regression testing.
- Build and manage automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for physical HiL runners.
- Develop high-fidelity real-time simulation models for motor, sensor, and communication emulation.
- Create and maintain software libraries for industrial protocols including EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, and I2C.
- Configure and maintain Linux-based workstations as self-hosted runners for traceable test environments.
- Partner with Electrical and Firmware teams to implement fault injection and signal mapping strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in test engineering, design verification, or electrical validation.
- Deep familiarity with HiL systems and V&V methodologies for complex robotic or embedded systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Proven experience with GitHub Actions and test automation in hardware-focused environments.
- Deep understanding of communication protocols: EtherCAT, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART.
- Experience with real-time simulation platforms (e.g., dSpace, NI) and Linux RT.
Nice to have
- Experience with Acontis or other EtherCAT simulation tools.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and Docker.
- Familiarity with robotics simulation platforms like NVIDIA Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
- Experience in high-growth startup or New Product Introduction (NPI) environments.
