Narrative Designer - Internship Fall 2026 (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Narrative Designer Intern (Gamedev): Developing immersive worlds, characters, and storytelling moments for video games with an accent on blending narrative with core gameplay mechanics. Focus on crafting coherent in-game dialogue, worldbuilding, and technical integration within Unreal Engine.

Location: Hybrid (Toronto, ON) - Must be in the office three days a week

What you will do

• Integrate and maintain in-game text and dialogue using Gridly.
• Create supportive narrative materials and documentation.
• Collaborate with the design team to express core mechanics through story, context, and worldbuilding.
• Contribute to content integration within Unreal Engine.
• Brainstorm creative ways to enhance player immersion and narrative flow.

Requirements

• Background in narrative design or creative writing, preferably in the horror genre.
• Strong understanding of plot, structure, character development, and how story supports game mechanics.
• Proficiency with Jira, Miro, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience writing immersive in-game dialogue and character-appropriate content.
• Must be eligible to work full-time in Canada, specifically in Ontario.
• Available to work 37.5 hours per week for 4 months starting September 2026.
