TL;DR
Head of Retail Credit Risk (Fintech): Defining and owning the Group's credit risk framework and risk appetite for retail and business lending with an accent on regulatory compliance (PRA/FCA, Basel) and portfolio profitability. What you will do
- Define and own the Group's credit risk framework and risk appetite across all products, including secured and unsecured lending.
- Act as the primary point of contact for credit risk in the UK and oversee responses to regulatory inquiries (ICAAP, stress testing).
- Establish risk governance for the full lifecycle of new product development (NPD) for retail and business lending.
- Advise the Group CRO and Board on the credit risk profile and identify emerging systemic risks.
- Oversee the validation and monitoring of credit risk models, including IFRS9 and Basel models.
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of risk specialists and data scientists.
Requirements
- Expertise in leading credit risk management for a global financial institution.
- Deep understanding of the credit lifecycle for secured and unsecured retail, business, and commercial lending.
- Proven track record with consolidated supervision frameworks (PRA/FCA), ICAAP, and Basel regulatory expectations.
- Ability to design credit governance frameworks and work across three lines of defense.
- Experience managing risk across multiple legal entities or regions.
- Must be based in the UK.
Nice to have
- Experience managing credit portfolios in a high-growth, digital-first banking environment.
- Technical proficiency in SQL, R, or Python for model validation and data strategy.
- Expertise in scaling a credit risk function within a rapidly expanding financial group.
