Lead Auditor

TL;DR

Lead Auditor (Internal Audit): Deliver end-to-end, risk-based internal audits for regulated financial operations in New Zealand with an accent on financial crime, payments, operational resilience, and third-party risk management. Focus on building audit plans, testing and validating controls, and presenting findings to senior management and the Board while using data (SQL, SAS, Python, and/or R) to sharpen risk insights.

What you will do

• Perform risk assessments to develop and maintain a risk-based internal audit plan.
• Execute end-to-end internal audits across key risk areas, aligning local priorities with global methodology.
• Use data to inform risk understanding, test controls, and provide actionable insights.
• Present audit results to senior management and the Board.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders (CEO, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Operations Officer) and respond to regulatory inquiries.
• Provide oversight, review, and validation of management actions.

Requirements

• Location: Remote from New Zealand
• 7+ years of experience in an audit-related role in a regulated financial services environment.
• Expertise in end-to-end risk-based internal audits, risk assessments, and internal audit planning.
• Experience leading teams and overseeing internal audits end to end.
• Familiarity with global regulatory guidelines and expectations for operations in New Zealand.
• Proficiency interpreting data using SQL, SAS, Python, and/or R.

Nice to have

• Experience auditing agile organisations.
• CA ANZ qualification.
• Certified internal auditor.
