TL;DR

Learner Support Lead (Pastoral & Wellbeing): Own and coordinate end-to-end learner support for learners with barriers to learning, with an accent on pastoral care, wellbeing, and operational quality oversight across the learner journey. Focus on triaging learners, managing wellbeing support plans and registers, and ensuring safeguarding, inclusion, and funding-compliant evidence through robust governance and impact reporting.

Location: Home based, UK (Remote)

What you will do

  • Conduct learner triage and initial support calls to assess barriers to inclusion and learning.
  • Manage the Wellbeing Register and Wellbeing Support Plans, including ongoing SEND Hub updating and reporting.
  • Deliver tailored ongoing support sessions aligned to each learner’s individualised learner support plan to maintain academic performance.
  • Provide governance and oversight for coaching and mentoring delivery, including deep-dive quality reviews of interventions.
  • Lead capacity building and CPD for coaches and mentors, including early warning sign identification and Tier 1 support before escalation.
  • Ensure Learning Support Fund (LSF) integrity with auditable APDR evidence, and produce impact reports linking support, funding, and retention/achievement.

Requirements

  • UK-based home-based role.
  • Hold (or be willing to undertake) a Mental Health First Aider qualification.
  • Hold a SEND qualification (Level 2 upwards).
  • Experience in pastoral, wellbeing, and inclusion-based roles, including supporting learners with barriers to learning.
  • Strong ability to evaluate quality and analyse delivery data reliably in the post-16 training/government funded sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Ofsted and DfE regulations.
  • Qualifications in supporting SEND in an education setting.
  • Knowledge and experience within apprenticeship or work-based FE/HE provision.
