What you will do

• Partner across the product lifecycle to identify and address legal risks in AI, IP, privacy, security, open source, and marketing.
• Advise Go-To-Market and Business Operations on product positioning, licensing models, and regulatory issues to support commercialization.
• Monitor and interpret evolving laws related to AI, privacy, IP, and competition to ensure proactive compliance.
• Draft and maintain scalable processes, playbooks, and guidance for consistent legal input across teams.
• Support creation and management of privacy, security, and AI governance frameworks and audits.
• Provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice aligned with Synthesia’s risk appetite and goals.

Requirements

• Law degree and qualified to practice in-house in a relevant jurisdiction.
• 7+ years post-qualification experience, including 5+ years advising on SaaS product legal issues; prior exposure to generative AI preferred.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and related legal issues (e.g., IP, privacy, algorithmic accountability).
• Strong understanding of GDPR and major privacy frameworks; experience with biometric data processing or automated decision-making is a plus.
• Comfortable working with technical teams and translating legal risk into actionable guidance.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
