TL;DR
Product Engineer (PHP/Laravel): Maintaining and improving the core platform and OTA connectivity for a high-scale short-term rental management system with an accent on API integration, system stability, and performance. Focus on building new features from 0 to 1, refactoring complex monolithic code, and ensuring seamless data ingestion from third-party travel partners.
Location: Remote-only, fully distributed. Ideal candidates should be able to work within European or American timezones.
Salary: $134,450 – $167,258 USD (depending on location and cost of living).

What you will do
- Develop and maintain integrations with major travel agencies like Airbnb, Booking.com, and VRBO.
- Ship new core platform features from concept to production and iterate based on customer feedback.
- Improve platform stability, downtime resilience, and observability of the monolithic codebase.
- Refactor core platform and connectivity code to enhance maintainability and testability.
- Collaborate with product, sales, and customer success teams to solve complex operational problems.
- Optimize performance and resource usage to support high-volume data ingestion.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend technologies.
- Significant experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, and MySQL is non-negotiable.
- Experience with testing pipelines in a production environment.
- Exceptional written communication skills for a fully distributed, remote-first environment.
- Ability to think through non-obvious usage scenarios and complex system ripple effects.
- Self-motivated mindset capable of making decisions under uncertainty.
Nice to have
- Experience with queue/job-centric backends.
- Experience building production systems with critical third-party API data ingestion.
