Data Engineer

TL;DR

Data Engineer (ETL/Data Lake): Architecting and building ETL pipelines and workflows to ensure high data quality and reliability, with an accent on central data lake design and end-to-end data solutions. Focus on implementing data governance and security, integrating new data technologies, and continuously monitoring and improving pipeline performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

Location: NYC; San Francisco (in-person 5 days a week)

What you will do

• Architect, build, and maintain ETL pipelines and workflows for high data quality and reliability.
• Design and manage a central data lake consolidating data from multiple sources for analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to identify data gaps and deliver solutions.
• Implement data security and governance best practices to support compliance and trust.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to optimize data processes and architectures.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience at a venture-backed startup or top technology firm, focused on data engineering.
• Hands-on data engineering experience (ETL development, data warehousing, data lake management, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; comfort working with cloud-based data stack tools.
• Experience with big data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data integration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
• Experience implementing data governance, security, and compliance measures.
• Comfort working in-person 5 days a week.
