TL;DR

Mechanical Engineer (Space): Designing and developing mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and satellite test systems for a nanosatellite constellation with an accent on high-quality mechanical design for harsh environments. Focus on managing the full MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test) cycle and validating designs through complex environmental testing.

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based startup in the New Space sector providing global IoT connectivity via a constellation of last-generation nanosatellites.

What you will do

  • Design mechanical jigs, interfaces, and mechanisms for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to facilitate MAIT activities.
  • Prepare and lead environmental test, measurement, alignment, and verification procedures for prototype satellite systems.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Perform structural, vibration, and thermal testing to validate mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with electrical and system engineers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
  • Develop technical documentation and coordinate with procurement for the timely delivery of GSE components.

Requirements

  • Educational background in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical design, focusing on structures and jigs for harsh environments.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for mechanical modeling.
  • Proven experience designing GSE for testing applications or integration jigs.
  • Experience working in high-quality manufacturing environments.
  • Must be based in or able to work in Barcelona, Spain.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience with space industry mechanical systems and qualification campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience with thermal analysis and simulation tools like ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Knowledge of space-qualified materials and industry standards (NASA, ESA, ECSS, ISO).
  • Experience with small satellite system development and integration.
