What you will do
- Drive technical direction and lead architecture decisions for the data platform in collaboration with Product and Design stakeholders.
- Manage and develop a team of 4–5 engineers, providing technical mentorship and fostering a product-minded culture.
- Own and evolve core data infrastructure, including the data lake, semantic layer, and data governance.
- Lead the adoption of streaming technologies (Kafka) across the engineering team.
- Implement and advance high-standard data modeling practices across the platform.
- Drive the transition toward a distributed, self-service data platform model with distributed ownership.
Requirements
- Proven experience at Staff Engineer level or equivalent within a data engineering context.
- Deep architectural understanding of data lakes, data foundations, governance, and orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with streaming technologies, specifically Kafka.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with a modern data stack.
- Experience managing large-scale datasets for B2B SaaS customer bases.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a product-minded engineering approach.
Nice to have
- Experience with data governance for AI agents, including guardrails and access control.
- Prior exposure to self-service data platform models and distributed ownership strategies.
- Experience working within a product-led SaaS environment.
