Principal Database Administrator (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own database reliability, driving high availability and disaster recovery strategies for core banking systems.
• Define and execute the scalability roadmap, including partitioning, sharding strategies, and capacity forecasting.
• Perform deep-dive query optimization, execution plan analysis, and proactive bottleneck remediation.
• Build and manage connection pooling strategies (PgBouncer) and robust backup/restore automations.
• Design monitoring architecture using Prometheus, Grafana, and VictoriaMetrics, defining SLIs/SLOs.
• Implement banking-grade security practices, credential management, and compliance-aligned data handling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load production environments, preferably in Fintech.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, WAL, vacuum) and advanced index design.
• Proven experience designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.
• Hands-on experience with GCP and Linux systems administration.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD workflows (GitLab, ArgoCD).
• Fluent English proficiency and eligibility to work in the EU.

Nice to have

• Experience working within PCI DSS or GDPR frameworks.
• Familiarity with Redis, BigQuery, Cassandra, or ClickHouse.
• Advanced experience with connection pooling tools beyond PgBouncer.
• Deep knowledge of secure secrets and credential management practices.
