Principal Information Security Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Principal Information Security Engineer (Cybersecurity): Providing technical leadership and oversight for the security engineering team to deliver robust security tooling and infrastructure with an accent on the Microsoft security stack and enterprise security platforms. Focus on bridging strategic objectives with operational outcomes, validating complex designs, and mentoring the engineering team.

Location: Hybrid (Manchester or London). Must spend a minimum of 50% of working time per month in the office.

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical lead and escalation point for the security engineering team.
• Oversee daily technical execution to ensure BAU work and project engagements meet high standards and SLAs.
• Support the delivery of the security tooling roadmap, aligning strategic goals with operational results.
• Collaborate with Security Architecture and Operations teams to validate and integrate robust security controls.
• Provide mentoring and hands-on guidance to engineers to develop secure, automated solutions.

Requirements

• Significant experience implementing enterprise security platforms, specifically the Microsoft security stack.
• Hands-on experience securing Windows, MacOS, Linux, and mobile platforms.
• Deep understanding of SIEM, PAM, IGA, email/web gateways, and endpoint protection.
• Experience with ISO27001, NIST, or similar security frameworks.
• 5 years of experience in Information Security, preferably within financial services or e-commerce.
• Strong knowledge of core IT and networking concepts.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of firewalls and cloud security solutions.
• Experience with automation and scripting.
• CISSP certification (attained or working towards).
