Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company building the Waymo Driver to provide fully autonomous ride-hailing services.

What you will do

  • Develop algorithms ensuring car behavior is safe, smooth, and predictable in complex social situations like merging and navigating narrow roads.
  • Process noisy, uncertain, and incomplete information to make real-time driving decisions.
  • Frame open-ended real-world challenges into well-defined engineering problems.
  • Develop and scale tools, algorithms, and evaluation mechanisms using Google-sized data pipelines.
  • Optimize and refine software for real-time execution on vehicle hardware.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, ML, Robotics, or a similar technical field.
  • 5+ years of general software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ with a focus on writing efficient code.
  • Experience collaborating across different multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

  • MS in Computer Science, ML, or Robotics.
  • Experience solving motion planning or related robotics problems.
  • Experience solving or evaluating ML-based systems.
