Monitoring & Observability Lead (DevOps): Leading the monitoring, alerting, and observability practice for a large federal enterprise cloud platform with an accent on SLOs, incident detection, and infrastructure as code. Focus on driving continuous improvement of MTTR and MTTD, implementing observability tooling via Terraform, and mentoring engineers to achieve operational excellence.

Location: Remote (Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination)

Salary: $140,000–$155,000

What you will do

• Lead the platform's monitoring and observability strategy across metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Establish and maintain service level objectives (SLOs), dashboards, and alerting standards.
• Coordinate around-the-clock operational monitoring, including incident detection, triage, and escalation.
• Implement observability tooling and automation as infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Mentor engineers and define standards for operational excellence.
• Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading monitoring/observability or operations for production systems.
• Hands-on experience with observability tooling and incident management.
• Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Experience with SLO-based reliability and on-call program leadership.
• Relevant certifications in AWS or observability platforms.
