Software Automation Engineer II (Embedded Software)

Location: Hybrid, Chelmsford, Massachusetts; applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance. Relocation is not offered.

Salary: $96,400–$107,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts and supporting tools for embedded software applications.
• Enhance automated test frameworks for software-driven electromechanical medical devices.
• Collaborate with developers, test engineers, and product teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
• Integrate and execute automated tests in CI/CD environments and support Agile SDLC activities.
• Analyze test results, investigate failures, document defects, and help resolve issues with engineering teams.
• Maintain test documentation, fixtures, equipment, and automation environments used for software verification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least two years of relevant experience in software development, test automation, or software verification, unless replaced by an advanced degree.
• Experience programming in Python or a comparable object-oriented language.
• Experience developing, executing, or maintaining automated test solutions.
• Understanding of SDLC and software testing methodologies, with strong debugging, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Pytest or similar automated test frameworks.
• Experience testing embedded software or integrated hardware/software systems.
• Experience with SSH, Jenkins, Git, Google Test, and basic TCP/IP and HTTP/HTTPS networking.
