What you will do

• Lead and mentor a small DevOps engineering team supporting Unite Services and Integrations.
• Own the operational health, reliability, and security of multi-region Kubernetes clusters and backend infrastructure.
• Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices using GitHub Actions.
• Drive security initiatives, including vulnerability remediation, secrets management, and ransomware preparedness.
• Collaborate with Engineering and SRE teams to define roadmaps, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response procedures.
• Automate operational workflows and contribute to the development of Internal Developer Platform (IDP) capabilities.

Requirements

• Must be located in the United Kingdom
• Proven experience leading DevOps or platform engineering teams for complex distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes operations, including cluster management, security, and scaling.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tooling, specifically GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm) and scripting (Python, Go, or Bash).
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and hybrid environment management.

Nice to have

• Experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDP).
• Knowledge of API Gateways and stream processing platforms like Apache Flink.
• Background in disaster recovery planning and business continuity for critical systems.
