Data Governance Implementation Lead

Location: Porto, Portugal; hybrid working model with regular travel to SHV companies during key implementation phases.

What you will do

• Launch data governance initiatives from concept to daily business practice within an SHV Group.
• Identify stakeholders, pain points, governance gaps, and priority data domains with business and IT teams.
• Define data ownership structures, including data owners, stewards, custodians, and decision forums.
• Facilitate workshops to align technical and business stakeholders on definitions, ownership, and decision-making.
• Create reusable governance templates, playbooks, and implementation accelerators for other SHV companies.
• Coordinate with technical, architecture, privacy, and security specialists on detailed implementation work.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, analytics, business analysis, or a related field.
• Experience initiating data or governance initiatives from scratch and securing sponsorship and stakeholder buy-in.
• Ability to engage senior business stakeholders directly and translate data concepts into business value.
• Ability to structure broad and ambiguous mandates into clear starting points and actionable plans.
• Working understanding of data platforms and the business importance of governance.
• Proactive, resilient, and comfortable working with ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK, CDMP, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience in ESG, finance, HR, operations, supply chain, consulting, international, or multi-entity organizations.
• Basic SQL, BI, or data platform knowledge.
• Awareness of GDPR or other data protection principles.
