Research & Development Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

What you will do

• Define product specifications and functionalities ensuring strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards such as IEC61439 and UL857.
• Perform 3D modelling and 2D drafting of product designs using Creo, Solidworks or equivalent software.
• Build and test prototypes to support the development and validation of product designs.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source necessary components and materials.
• Execute Product Risk Assessments using DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
• Manage the Engineering change process for existing products and maintain detailed technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or design technology.
• 3+ years of experience in design within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in 3D modelling (Creo, Solidworks) and 2D drafting (first and third angle projection).
• Strong expertise in GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Ireland.

Nice to have

• Experience with power distribution applications or the data centre industry.
• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFE (Design for Environment).
• Knowledge of Process flow, PFMEA, and Control plan preparation.
