Software Engineer (Java 21+)

Location: Hybrid in Utrecht, Netherlands. Candidates must be located in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work there; candidates requiring relocation from another country cannot be considered.

Salary: €5,030–€7,183 gross monthly for a 36-hour work week.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java 21+ microservices for business-critical digital banking platforms.
• Build scalable, secure, and performant REST APIs.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence through monitoring, logging, alerting, and production support.
• Solve production challenges and improve backend services supporting millions of customers.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and stakeholders to shape technical solutions and challenge assumptions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of demonstrable experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of distributed microservice architectures and API design.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability tooling.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices.
• Ability to contribute ideas, influence technical decisions, and continuously improve systems.
• Fluent English required; candidates must have the legal right to work in the Netherlands.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Cloud, Cloud Foundry, Maven, Git, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace, Splunk, or PagerDuty.
