Senior Backend Developer (PHP/Java)

Location: Hoofddorp, Netherlands; hybrid work setup with 3 days at the office and 2 days from home. Working from abroad is possible for a maximum of 2 weeks per year.

Salary: up to €90,000 annually, based on 40 hours per week and experience.

What you will do

• Build new features and integrations with third-party systems.
• Own integrations end to end and ship work to production.
• Investigate issues, implement improvements, and fix bugs to maintain system reliability.
• Create and maintain automated tests for robust software.
• Refine user stories and tasks with the team and stakeholders.
• Maintain clear domain-driven code, conduct code reviews, and promote low coupling between domains.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience with PHP and/or Java, with hands-on ability in both.
• Commercial experience with Laravel and/or SpringBoot, with practical knowledge of both.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including transactions and isolation levels.
• Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker for scalable backend development.
• Understanding of event-driven architecture and technologies such as Apache Kafka.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required for collaboration with international colleagues and remote teams.
