Staff Sales Engineer (Sales Engineering): Provide technical expertise throughout the sales lifecycle, from discovery to contract execution, with an accent on solution design validation and scalable technical handoffs. Focus on engaging utilities and DERMS/technology partners, translating complex energy concepts into proposals and Scope of Work, and driving cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, delivery, and customer success.
Location: Remote (United States)
Salary: $165k - $205k base + target annual bonus of 15% of base salary

What you will do
- Serve as the technical counterpart to Partnerships across the sales process, leading technical discovery and validating feasibility and implementation approach.
- Support proposal and Scope of Work development with technical guidance and accurate solution documentation.
- Represent externally as a trusted technical advisor in meetings with utilities, DERMS providers, implementation contractors, and technology partners.
- Communicate solution architecture, dispatch strategies, integration approaches, and measurement and verification (M&V) expectations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Drive cross-functional alignment by translating market and partner feedback into actionable technical requirements and supporting consistent external messaging.
- Ensure commercial readiness by reviewing technical assumptions and supporting structured handoffs to Delivery and Customer Success.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Consulting, or a related technical customer-facing role.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success/commercial teams.
- Experience working with utilities, grid-edge technologies, distributed energy resources, or large-scale energy programs.
- Strong understanding of demand response, load flexibility, virtual power plants, and/or distributed energy resource management concepts.
- Ability to lead technical customer/partner engagements and translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Work authorization: must be authorized to work in the United States; cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas.
