What you will do

• Design and run experiments to improve the scaling of compute on context for frontier models.
• Own end-to-end improvements to the post-training stack, including RL, data pipelines, reward signals, and diagnostics.
• Build evaluations and environments to expose model failures and translate them into training data or research directions.
• Collaborate with Codex and ChatGPT product teams to translate user signals into concrete model improvements.
• Develop early-training and alignment interventions, including synthetic data and eval loops that shape agent behavior.
• Debug complex failures in shipped models to formulate hypotheses and execute fixes.

Requirements

• Strong technical fundamentals in machine learning, software engineering, systems, or statistics.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RL, RLHF/RLAIF, post-training, and synthetic data.
• Experience building evals, graders, or production ML systems.
• Ability to translate vague behavioral problems into concrete experiments and pipelines.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate across research, product, infrastructure, and safety boundaries.
• Must be authorized to work in the US (subject to background checks per SF and CA ordinances).
