What you will do

• Test, inspect, and repair electrical components of locomotive systems and shop machinery.
• Maintain and repair locomotive alternators, generators, motors, and AC/DC power control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of shop equipment, including drop tables and welding machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical cabinets, lighting, batteries, and wiring.
• Operate within a safety-sensitive environment adhering to federal and state regulations.

Requirements

• Work Authorization: Must be able to work without BNSF's assistance (sponsorship) now and in the future.
• Location: Ability to report for duty at the designated location in Richmond, CA.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work at various heights, including on top of locomotives.
• Ability to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow, lunar) and differentiate verbal/non-verbal sounds.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Minimum age of 18 years.

Nice to have

• 4 years of practical experience in electrical work.
