What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and testing of multiple complex software applications.
• Develop database architectures and ETL pipelines to deliver advanced data analytics capabilities.
• Act as a Technical Lead, providing guidance and mentoring to entry-level engineers.
• Collaborate with product teams and manage vendor and external partnerships.
• Troubleshoot high-complexity issues and ensure application quality and system reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering (or 12 years relevant experience).
• Experience with Spark on Snowflake or Databricks.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, and SQL development.
• Experience designing and implementing data modeling solutions (relational, dimensional, and/or NoSQL).
• Knowledge of Big Data file formats (Parquet, Avro, Delta Lake) and Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, SQS, S3, GitLab).
• Must be based in San Diego, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience partnering with scientific research teams, such as biomarker discovery or computational biology.
• Expertise in CI/CD best practices and test-driven development (TDD).
• Experience integrating real-world data (RWD), including EHR and claims data.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance (RBAC, GDPR, HIPAA).
