Salary: $90,000 - $125,000

What you will do

• Develop custom loss models representing impacts to global structures and infrastructure to pair with hazard models.
• Create models of structure damage, repair time, and indirect impacts using engineering first principles, statistics, and machine learning.
• Analyze historical loss observational data to improve model accuracy and identify quality control issues.
• Perform statistical analysis to validate loss model predictions and assess uncertainties.
• Conduct background research in academic literature to inform quantitative modeling approaches.
• Create property-level adaptation scenarios to help customers understand the ROI of personal property protections.

Requirements

• Ph.D. (preferred) or Master's degree with 3+ years experience in structural engineering, civil engineering, operations research, or a related field.
• Strong background in vulnerability developments, statistics, and quantitative analytics.
• Hands-on experience developing risk models for buildings or infrastructure using ML or statistical methods.
• Experience with multi-hazard data, catastrophe models, and construction cost estimation data.
• Expertise using scripted languages like Python.
• Must be based in or able to work from New York City for the required hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience in developing scalable and generalized catastrophe risk models.
• Strong publication record and research experience in resilience modeling.
• Proficiency with Git and source control platforms.
• ML/AI experience and big data analysis in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
