TL;DR
Superconducting IC Designer II (Superconducting IC/Quantum): Create and improve superconducting integrated circuit layouts and device designs for quantum processors with an accent on EDA toolchain development, electromagnetic modeling/simulation, and design verification for correctness and manufacturability. Focus on topological/parametric device design and mitigating packaging, I/O, electronics, and cryogenic environment impacts to advance quantum processor architecture.
Location: Burnaby, Canada
Salary: 125,000-171,000 CAD per year

What you will do
- Create superconducting integrated circuit layouts.
- Understand, predict, and design the behavior of superconducting devices.
- Verify designs for correctness and manufacturability.
- Use analytical/numerical models and simulations to represent and understand devices.
- Use custom software infrastructure for superconducting IC design and debug technical issues.
- Document IC designs and communicate them with colleagues.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in electronic engineering, physics, computer science, or a closely related field (graduate degree + 0-2 years, or bachelor’s + 2-4 years).
- IC design experience including analog, quantum, or RF design experience.
- Strong applied electromagnetic theory.
- Strong programming skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate on codebases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and persistence in technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with both experts and non-experts.
Nice to have
- Expertise in superconducting devices, qubit design/control, or EDA software development/customization.
- Experience with RF/microwave design on or near ICs and quantum-mechanical modeling of superconducting devices.
- Experience with EDA tools (e.g., Ansys EDA, Keysight ADS, Cadence EDA, Comsol, SUN Magnetics, WRspice) and IC design verification tools.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, especially Common Lisp, Python, and Cadence SKILL.
