Senior Machine Learning Engineer (ML Recall)

Location: Fully remote; choose where you live

Salary: $7,500–$10,000 per month before taxes. The benefits section also lists a base salary of $80,000–$120,000 USD per year.

A U.S.-based e-commerce search and discovery platform using proprietary search, personalization, transformer, and generative LLM technologies at extreme scale.

What you will do

• Build and deploy robust machine learning systems for search, including text, image, and multimodal solutions.
• Tune large language models to improve search and discovery quality.
• Develop recall, visual search, recommendation, and related machine learning capabilities.
• Improve business KPIs by designing new modeling approaches and validating hypotheses.
• Collaborate with technical teams to share expertise and integrate models and technologies into broader pipelines.
• Take ownership of individual and team deliverables.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
• Excellent NLP knowledge, especially transformer-based approaches, plus comprehensive classical machine learning knowledge.
• Extensive Python experience and experience with a deep learning framework such as PyTorch.
• Experience with SQL and big data tools for end-to-end ML product development, including PySpark.
• Experience delivering machine learning systems to production.
• Ability to translate intuition into data-driven hypotheses and engineering solutions that create business value.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing A/B tests.
• Experience with Rust, C, or C++.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
• Ability to explain difficult concepts and support teammates.
