Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Barcelona, Spain — hybrid work with flexible working hours

Salary: €35,000–€50,000 gross per year, based on experience

hirify.global is a Barcelona-based fintech startup founded in 2019 that provides a SaaS platform for banks, family offices, and wealth managers to consolidate and manage clients’ financial asset data.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Write efficient, production-grade Python code for high-volume datasets, with attention to performance and memory efficiency.
• Collaborate on SQL and NoSQL database schema design and optimize queries for fast, accurate data access.
• Implement unit tests, integration tests, and data quality checks to protect pipeline integrity.
• Deploy and iterate on pipelines using CI/CD practices and containerization tools such as Docker.
• Participate in code reviews and take backend and data ingestion work from requirements through production deployment.

Requirements

• Strong Python and/or JavaScript engineering skills, including performance optimization and maintainable production code.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines using ETL/ELT patterns, orchestration, and large-scale data ingestion, or experience building backend product services.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows and containerization, such as Docker.
• Ability to work autonomously, define scope from high-level requirements, navigate unfamiliar codebases, and drive work to production.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish is required for collaboration in a bilingual environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elasticsearch.
• Curiosity about financial markets and willingness to understand the financial formulas implemented in the platform.
