Junior Hardware Engineer (FPGA)

TL;DR

Junior Hardware Engineer (FPGA/SoC): Designing digital hardware and firmware for space-sector embedded systems with an accent on VHDL/Verilog coding and functional verification. Focus on synthesis, implementation, and resource optimization within the Receiver team to support long-term space projects.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Tres Cantos, Madrid, Spain (Hybrid model with 8 weeks of remote work outside the usual area per year).

What you will do

• Develop digital hardware and firmware for FPGA/SoC-based embedded systems.
• Write and maintain code using VHDL and Verilog.
• Perform functional verification using testbenches and code coverage analysis.
• Execute synthesis, implementation, and bitstream generation.
• Optimize system resources and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate on long-term projects within the Receivers and equipment unit.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog and FPGA development tools like Vivado or ModelSIM.
• Experience with synthesis, implementation, and scripting languages (Python, TCL, Shell).
• Knowledge of C, C++, or Rust.
• Understanding of functional verification processes.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Madrid, Spain.

Nice to have

• Experience with standard interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
• Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and digital/analog hardware design.
• Familiarity with signal processing and version control systems like GIT.
