What you will do

• Own and scale an engineering organization focused on building Hydro and AI-driven correctness tooling.
• Define the multi-year technical strategy for integrating AI agents into the distributed systems development lifecycle.
• Drive organizational decisions regarding team structure, investment, and build-vs-partner tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and the open-source community to establish industry standards.
• Represent the team's vision to senior leadership and across organizational boundaries.
• Hire, develop, and retain high-performing engineers dedicated to systems correctness.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years managing managers or leading large teams.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including consensus, replication, and consistency models.
• Working knowledge of AI agents and LLM-based tooling reliability.
• Proven track record of shipping production infrastructure at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently and set direction in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Must be based in or willing to work from Seattle, WA.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Rust and understanding of its type system.
• Experience with database internals, query engines, or storage system design.
• Background in programming language theory or compiler design.
• Familiarity with deterministic simulation testing.
