TL;DR
Lead AI Engineer (AI/Azure): Building and optimizing the engineering practice, platform and infrastructure for AI Services with an accent on scalability, reliability, and governance. Focus on implementing LLM application patterns, designing robust API integrations, and managing cloud infrastructure using AKS and Terraform.
Location: Hybrid (Liverpool, UK). Must have valid right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship provided

What you will do
- Shape the AI strategy, roadmap, and engineering vision alongside the Head of AI Services.
- Manage and evolve AI platform infrastructure using Azure, AKS, Terraform, and Helm.
- Establish and uphold engineering standards for code review, testing, deployment, and observability.
- Integrate internal APIs with Conversational AI tools such as Boost.ai and ElevenLabs.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers across the organization to raise the engineering bar.
- Operate within a regulated governance model, ensuring DPIAs, model documentation, and audit trails are maintained.
Requirements
- Strong production engineering track record in AI/ML at scale with an emphasis on reliability.
- Working knowledge of LLM patterns: RAG, structured extraction, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows.
- DevOps fluency in Azure (essential), AKS, Helm, Terraform, and Azure Pipelines.
- Experience implementing observability and governance in regulated environments.
- Must have at least one year remaining on a Graduate or Post-Study Work visa, or existing UK work authorization.
- Ability to make and defend architectural decisions while acting as a technical escalation point.
