What you will do

• Design and develop features for the hirify.global Iceberg REST Catalog and Lakehouse Optimizer.
• Build advanced automated testing frameworks using Python, Shell, or Java to ensure platform stability.
• Lead, mentor, and guide junior engineers while advocating for engineering best practices.
• Partner with Dev and PM teams to define project schedules and resource allocation models.
• Debug system-level deployment issues and conduct root cause analysis for production failures.
• Author technical documentation and blogs to promote product adoption and best practices.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Budapest, Hungary.
• 6-8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java or C++.
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux and DevOps tools including Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of QA methodology and distributed systems scalability.
• Working knowledge of major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Nice to have

• Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem.
• Knowledge of Generative AI applications.
• Proven history of leading engineering groups on complex project plans.
