International Consultant (WASH Conflict and Peace Analysis)

International Consultant (WASH Conflict and Peace Analysis): Supporting the development and implementation of conflict-sensitive WASH programming across targeted countries with an accent on integrating peacebuilding approaches into humanitarian and development frameworks. Focus on conducting desk reviews, developing capacity-building strategies, and providing actionable recommendations for conflict resolution and social cohesion within the WASH sector.

Location: Remote (Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya)

What you will do

• Prepare an inception report with a detailed methodology and workplan for WASH conflict analysis.
• Conduct a desk review of existing frameworks, strategies, and assessments relevant to targeted countries.
• Develop and implement capacity development strategies to ensure the uptake of conflict analysis findings.
• Create actionable recommendations for integrating conflict sensitivity into the entire WASH programming cycle.
• Support targeted Country Offices in developing context-relevant, participatory conflict and peace analyses.
• Identify opportunities for WASH programs to support conflict resolution, inclusion, and social cohesion.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Conflict & Peace Studies or Research Methods.
• At least 5 years of experience in developing and implementing conflict analysis in fragile states.
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• Experience in developing capacity-building strategies for conflict-sensitive programming.
• Ability to coordinate remotely and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of hirify.global’s WASH HDP nexus approach and related policies.

Nice to have

• Fluent in French.
• Field experience integrating conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding approaches in WASH and hirify.global programs.
• Experience working in multi-cultural backgrounds.
