TL;DR
Microfabrication Process Engineer (MEMS/Photonic/Microfluidics): Designing and developing MEMS devices and fabrication processes in a clean-room environment with an accent on process capability, metrology, and reliability/yield improvement. Focus on building and validating production methods for microfabrication (including CMP and LPCVD) and translating performance results into documentation, technical reports, and support for new product development.

Salary: $62,500.00 - $250,000.00 (base)

What you will do
- Design and develop microelectromechanical (MEMS) devices/sensors, including schematics and physical layouts of integrated MEMS components or packaged assemblies.
- Assess performance and process capabilities of MEMS device designs using modeling/simulation tools.
- Test and evaluate devices using fabrication and metrology tools, protocols, and software.
- Analyze and address reliability, yield improvement, and failure modes; develop production methods and fabrication processes for MEMS.
- Draft operating instructions, performance specifications, and manuals; share operating characteristics and performance experience with designers and engineers.
- Communicate design/manufacturing risks and needs to project leadership and execute assigned problem-solving approaches.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of Microsystems Engineering or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics (Master’s preferred).
- Proficiency with fabrication and metrology tools/instrumentation used for MEMS component fabrication.
- Proficiency with software tools for device design, modeling, and performance testing.
- Proficiency with statistical process control and reliability/failure analysis tools for yield improvement.
- Government security clearance required (obtain and maintain).
Nice to have
- Experience developing processes for CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polish) and LPCVD (Low-Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition).
