Lead AI/ML Engineer (AI)

Location: London, UK; occasional onsite work with government clients may be required. Candidates may need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for complex software and AI/ML projects, balancing architectural trade-offs and long-term product and client goals.
• Lead delivery of large-scale AI-powered platforms and define roadmaps across complex workstreams in high-risk environments.
• Drive development of shared software libraries, microservices, and products using autonomous AI agents.
• Align ML, Data Science, and DevOps teams to build reliable, production-ready software.
• Manage and coach a distributed engineering team, set development goals, and lead software engineering hiring.
• Establish standards for code delivery, testing, documentation, deployment, and system integration.

Requirements

• Deep expertise across the application lifecycle, system integration, and end-user software quality.
• Experience designing large-scale, complex software ecosystems and defending architectural decisions in high-stakes environments.
• Ability to define production-readiness standards and deployment protocols across client engagements.
• Ability to translate commercial strategy into technical roadmaps, estimates, and integrated AI workstreams.
• Confident communication of technical roadmaps and architectural risks to commercial partners and executive leadership.
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) may be required, along with willingness to work onsite with government clients when needed.
