What you will do

• Maintain and evolve a production FastAPI backend serving REST APIs for authentication, authorization, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Contribute to a real-time collaborative editing service using Node.js, Y.js, and Hocuspocus.
• Design and ship database migrations using SQLAlchemy and Alembic for production MySQL databases.
• Build and improve AI-assisted features using LangChain and document embedding pipelines.
• Ensure system reliability through automated testing with pytest and operational validation.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and operations teams to align on requirements and delivery.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and experience building REST APIs with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and ORMs like SQLAlchemy.
• Experience with Redis, AWS services (S3, IAM), and containerized deployments with Docker.
• Comfort reading and writing Node.js/JavaScript for backend services.
• Experience with Git and automated testing frameworks (pytest or equivalent).
• Willingness to relocate to Munich, Germany (Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance provided).

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time collaboration protocols (WebSockets, CRDTs, Y.js, Hocuspocus).
• Familiarity with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with authorization frameworks such as Cerbos or OPA.
• Exposure to LangChain, LLM orchestration, or observability tooling (Prometheus, Sentry).
• Experience in the space industry or other safety-critical domains.
