Data Engineer / Integration Specialist (AWS)

TL;DR

Location: Primarily remote, but must be based in the US and able to come on-site in Washington, DC, as required. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

What you will do

• Design and develop high-performance data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Build and maintain APIs and integration services to enable enterprise data exchange.
• Support data migration, transformation, and standardization to improve accessibility across VA systems.
• Ensure interoperability across platforms using both structured and unstructured data sources.
• Optimize data performance and reliability for critical government decision-making.
• Collaborate with analytics and application teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in data engineering.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Java.
• Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud (S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR).
• Prior experience supporting federal or VA data systems.
• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop.
• Professional certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms.
