Chief Operating Officer (AI-First Operations)

Location: Fully remote, anywhere in South Africa

Salary: Up to ZAR 1,600,000 on a full-time, permanent employment contract

What you will do

• Own the company-wide operating model across multiple products, including roles, responsibilities, teams, processes, and accountability.
• Hire and manage teams at scale, structure teams effectively, and place people where they can perform best.
• Manage spending across SaaS, AI, and cloud infrastructure, identifying unnecessary or unused costs.
• Strengthen delivery for major client moments, including finals, tentpole events, and other high-visibility sporting events.
• Build an AI-first internal operating layer by automating repeatable processes with AI, skills, and workflow automation.
• Turn founder direction into execution by identifying missing roles and processes and putting them in place.

Requirements

• Experience running operations in a fast-moving, high-growth technology or SaaS environment.
• Senior operating experience, such as COO, Head of Operations, or an equivalent leadership role in a scaling organization.
• Hands-on and strategic approach, with the ability to work across billing, engineering, client delivery, and organizational structure.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions, establish accountability, operate with ambiguity, and deliver outcomes.
• Daily practical use of AI to create leverage and improve how work is performed.
• Comfort working at speed and in a changing environment without relying on heavy established processes.

Nice to have

• Experience building or running a company or other operation from an early or undefined stage.
• Experience supporting products and clients in sports or major live-event environments.
