What you will do

• Lead day-to-day engineering execution, ensuring clear priorities, ownership, and quality expectations.
• Manage and develop a team of Web Services engineers and contractors through coaching and performance support.
• Oversee team budget, resource planning, and operational expense management.
• Translate product and technical direction into coordinated, measurable engineering plans.
• Establish and improve team workflows, planning practices, and operating rhythms.
• Maintain technical depth to evaluate architectural tradeoffs, release risks, and engineering practices like CI/CD and observability.

Requirements

• 15+ years of industry experience with 10+ years in engineering leadership within software product or SaaS environments.
• 5+ years of people management experience including coaching and team development.
• Must reside in and have permanent work authorization for Canada.
• Strong technical depth in hosted services, cloud applications, and modern engineering practices.
• Ability to thoughtfully evaluate and integrate AI-enabled tools into engineering workflows.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to foster accountability and inclusion.

Nice to have

• Experience with hosted email, calendaring, or subscription-based communication platforms.
• Background in identity systems or billing/subscription integrations.
• Experience working in open-source or maintainer-style engineering environments.
• Knowledge of privacy-preserving product design and data minimization.
