TL;DR

Staff SCADA Engineer (BESS): Designing and integrating SCADA systems for utility-scale battery energy storage projects with an accent on controls architecture, network design, and system integration. Focus on coordinating BMS, EMS, and PCS systems while ensuring grid compliance and leading commissioning activities.

Location: Denver, CO; Atlanta, GA; Overland Park, KS; or Houston, TX. Relocation is available.

Salary: $120,406 - $201,080

What you will do

  • Develop engineering design documents and SCADA architecture for BESS projects.
  • Integrate BMS, EMS, PCS, and PPC systems and develop control narratives and data mapping.
  • Lead design reviews (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) and coordinate SCADA scope with utility interconnection requirements.
  • Support vendor selection, technical specifications, and design reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide field and remote troubleshooting and technical support to construction teams and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of SCADA engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with utility-scale BESS projects.
  • Experience with SCADA design and commissioning activities.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; must have valid US work authorization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SEL RTAC and related hardware.
  • Knowledge of DNP3, Modbus TCP/IP, and IEC 61850.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP, PRC-028, and IEEE 2800 standards.
  • Experience with HMI platforms such as Ignition or AVEVA.
  • Active or pursuing professional engineering licensure (PE).
