What you will do

  • Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models for cancer detection in the minimal residual disease setting.
  • Lead research analyses from ideation through implementation, troubleshooting, feature development, and performance evaluation.
  • Connect wet-lab experimental design with computational analysis as assay requirements evolve.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control across high-volume sequencing data from multiple cohorts, vendors, and clinical protocols.
  • Communicate findings and model performance to technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Help establish standards for code quality and reproducibility.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on cancer epigenomics/genomics and 0–3 years of professional experience, or a master’s degree with 4–6 years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of high-throughput DNA sequence data analysis, including mapping, sequence alignment, and variant calling workflows.
  • Experience with algorithm development, statistical methods, and analysis of biological data.
  • Experience developing core machine learning models, including generalized linear models, kernel methods, tree-based algorithms, and neural networks.
  • Strong programming skills with Python, Linux command-line tools, shell scripting, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Pandas.
  • Ability to collaborate with computational and experimental scientists and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB databases.
  • Interest in teaching and learning new computational methods and biology.
