What you will do

• Perform inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Coordinate work with general contractors and various public utilities agencies, including negotiating change orders.
• Inspect structural construction phases, including bridges, foundations, walls, falsework, shoring, and drainage structures.
• Execute grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations.
• Coordinate sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
• Track contractor progress and prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Requirements

• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.
• Minimum 8 years of experience conducting roadway and highway construction inspection in major public works projects.
• Experience with at least one construction highway project for or on Caltrans.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with physical characteristics and properties of roadway and bridge construction materials (concrete and steel).

Nice to have

• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in the field to solve construction problems.
• Experience directing the efforts of subordinate inspectors.
• Expertise in toll road projects, including tolling systems like overhead gantries and vehicle detection loops.
