Sr Staff Hardware Engineer Program Manager (Optical Hardware)

Location: Santa Clara, California; office attendance five days per week is required. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Base pay: $132,610–$198,600 per annum, plus eligibility for bonus and equity plans.

What you will do

• Own hardware program delivery from initiation and strategic planning through qualification, customer sampling, production readiness, and ramp.
• Build integrated schedules, resource plans, milestones, readiness criteria, and measurable deliverables for complex optical products.
• Coordinate photonics, analog design, packaging, manufacturing, validation, reliability, supply planning, operations, and finance across multiple sites.
• Manage concurrent silicon subsystem, optical engine, and final module development efforts while resolving dependencies and resource constraints.
• Identify technical, schedule, material, and resource risks; assign mitigation owners and drive recovery plans.
• Lead cross-functional reviews and executive updates covering program health, decisions, milestone changes, business impact, and tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; a master’s degree or PhD is a plus.
• Substantial industry experience: typically 10+ years with a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years with a master’s degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
• At least 5 years of hardware project or program management experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Experience delivering concurrent hardware development efforts, including silicon subsystems and complete customer products.
• Technical fluency, leadership, organization, risk management, problem-solving, and communication skills sufficient to influence teams without direct authority.
• Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable tools, plus PowerPoint, Excel, Agile, and Jira.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical connectivity, silicon photonics, high-speed interconnects, or advanced semiconductor packaging.
• Background in hardware validation, reliability qualification, new product introduction, and production ramp.
• Familiarity with material readiness, supply constraints, and operational dependencies for optical or semiconductor products.
