What you will do

• Perform backend data and ETL validation across big-data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and PostgreSQL.
• Analyze and validate complex CMS datasets and data assets, including cross-system data sourced from CMS Integrated Data Repository (IDR) and OnePI.
• Run backend-to-frontend comparison testing to ensure consistent data presentation between backend databases and UI/Databricks Unity Catalog outputs.
• Execute backend performance testing: query performance analysis, benchmarking throughput/processing times, and load/stress/volume testing of data pipelines and services.
• Develop and maintain backend test plans, performance testing strategies, and API-based validation scenarios with minimal oversight.
• Ensure compliance with CMS testing frameworks, SDLC processes, quality standards, and federal regulatory requirements; support UI validations when needed.

Requirements

• Public trust clearance through the U.S. Federal Government: candidates must be U.S. citizens or pass clearance via the Foreign National Government System, including having lived in the United States for at least 3 of the previous 5 years and having a valid, non-expired passport and appropriate visa/work permit documentation.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in backend data testing or data QA roles.
• Experience with data validation/testing in large-scale data environments (Databricks, Snowflake).
• Experience with backend performance testing, including workload analysis, query optimization, and data pipeline performance evaluation.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Slack; ability to create test documentation, defect reports, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working in Agile/SAFe or similar methodologies and translating business requirements into backend test cases.

Salary: $97,200 - $98,000 (USD)
