Salary: $234.3K – $296K (base compensation) + equity

What you will do

• Own a high-impact research agenda on large language models and agentic systems, from early hypothesis through training, evaluation, and production deployment
• Design and run large-scale post-training experiments using SFT, RLHF, RLAIF, DPO, and alignment/reasoning techniques to improve multi-step reasoning, planning, and tool use
• Develop evaluation benchmarks and methodologies for complex, real-world enterprise tasks
• Build scalable data synthesis and curation pipelines, including LLM-as-judge frameworks, synthetic data generation, and adversarial dataset construction
• Translate research findings into concrete improvements to enterprise-grade LLMs in collaboration with research engineering and product teams
• Publish and present research at top-tier venues and mentor other researchers and engineers

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on ML research experience, including training LLMs at scale and shipping measurable improvements
• Expert knowledge of post-training methods (SFT, RLHF, RLAIF, DPO, GRPO) and alignment/reasoning techniques applied to production systems
• Strong engineering depth in Python and PyTorch (or JAX) to build and scale training pipelines, evaluation infrastructure, and data synthesis workflows
• Track record of publications at competitive ML/AI venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL)
• Hands-on experience designing or evaluating agentic systems (planning, multi-step reasoning, tool use, error recovery)
• Hybrid role based out of the San Francisco or New York City hub
