VMware ICT Engineer (Nutanix to be trained)

TL;DR

VMware ICT Engineer (Nutanix to be trained): Administration and operation of a VMware vSphere virtual infrastructure, including monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and virtual machine lifecycle management with an accent on backup/recovery support, patch management, and 2nd/3rd level incident resolution. Focus on transitioning into Nutanix cloud infrastructure implementation and migration, automation and standardization of operational workflows, and planning/operating complex datacenter systems.

Location: Kosice, Slovakia. Remote working possibility is only available within Slovakia.

Salary: Base salary not lower than 1300 EUR brutto (final salary negotiable; base depends on seniority and experience).

What you will do

• Administer and operate VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter): monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Manage the virtual machines lifecycle: provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Support backup and recovery (e.g., Veeam or similar tools) and perform patch management/upgrades of VMware components.
• Handle incident and problem resolution as 2nd/3rd level support and collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams.
• After training, implement, administer, and migrate Nutanix cloud infrastructure (AOS/AHV, storage, virtual networking, NDK) and administer Nutanix Prism.
• Use scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, Ansible, Terraform) to standardize operational workflows and maintain service documentation.

Requirements

• Master’s/diploma degree with relevant experience, or comparable knowledge and skills.
• At least 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in IT administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) and good understanding of virtualization concepts and datacenter operations.
• Experience with storage (SAN/NAS), networking basics (VLANs, routing, firewalls), and backup solutions (e.g., Veeam/Commvault).
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux environments and ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
• English: B2 (Upper Intermediate) and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nutanix (AOS, AHV, Prism, LCM) including storage containers, protection domains, snapshots, replication, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
