What you will do
- Implement core features and systems using C++, extending existing frameworks or creating new ones.
- Collaborate with designers, producers, and content creators to solve in-game technical challenges.
- Develop performant and memory-efficient code specifically for game client systems.
- Write detailed technical design documents outlining software requirements.
- Debug, document, and resolve complex issues across the development lifecycle.
- Partner with technical directors to improve game scalability and overall performance.
Requirements
- Location: Must be based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Hybrid model).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in modern C++ and experience with Windows platforms (Visual Studio).
- Experience with performance profilers such as Unreal Insights, VTune, or Razor GPU/CPU Profiler.
- Proficiency with Perforce or Git-based version control workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience with commercial game engines and large-scale, data-driven applications.
- Experience developing client-side systems across varied hardware or platform environments.
- Familiarity with graphics libraries including DirectX, Vulkan, or Metal.
- Experience using automation tools to improve code quality and workflows.
- Familiarity with The Sims franchise across PC, Mac, mobile, or consoles.
