What you will do

• Own the full architecture, implementation, and delivery of major platform initiatives and high-scale workloads.
• Lead architecture and design reviews to minimize complexity and ensure system reliability.
• Mentor mid-level engineers through code reviews, design documentation, and technical pairing.
• Develop AI-native coding tools, including custom plugins, MCP servers, and agents, to multiply team productivity.
• Partner with bioinformaticians and scientists to translate R&D needs into scalable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience across various systems.
• Production experience designing for major cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Expertise in Kubernetes cluster design, scheduling, and networking.
• Production experience with Terraform for multi-environment deployments.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Java.
• Must be based in the USA to be eligible for employment and benefits.

Nice to have

• Experience in scientific or bioinformatics computing and LIMS systems.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration engines such as Nextflow, WDL, Airflow, or Argo.
• Experience with large-scale ETL, data pipeline systems, or HPC platforms.
