What you will do

• Architect services, APIs, and internal frameworks for experiment workflows, calibration systems, and automation loops.
• Design and maintain low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layers for signal generators, AWGs, and digitizers.
• Define clean hardware/software interfaces to decouple control electronics from higher-level experiment logic.
• Drive the long-term architectural strategy, technical roadmap, and cross-organizational alignment.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead architecture reviews across the platform department.
• Collaborate with physicists and researchers to ensure interfaces reflect experimental needs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing large-scale backend or platform architectures.
• Superior proficiency in Python, async frameworks, service design, and performance optimization.
• Experience writing drivers or low-level interfaces for hardware instruments (e.g., via VISA, SCPI, PCIe, Ethernet/UDP).
• Ability to define abstractions for hardware/software interactions with real-time and low-latency constraints.
• Strong technical leadership skills and a product-oriented mindset for end-to-end delivery.
• Must be based in or able to work in Paris on a hybrid basis.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with automation systems such as schedulers, workflow engines, or data pipelines.
• Experience delivering hardware-backed products like HPC nodes or scientific instruments to external users.
