Principal Engineer (SaaS/Cloud)

TL;DR

Principal Engineer (SaaS/Cloud): Designing and leading modernization efforts for inherited systems with an accent on scalability, business value, and cloud-native architecture. Focus on evaluating SaaS and low-code/no-code platforms to accelerate delivery and setting the technical vision for the engineering organization.

Location: Hybrid in Englewood Cliffs, NJ (minimum 3 days per week in office)

Salary: $170,000 – $200,000

What you will do

• Design and lead the modernization of legacy systems, prioritizing speed, scalability, and business value.
• Evaluate and implement SaaS, low-code/no-code platforms and Gen AI tools to accelerate product delivery.
• Collaborate with business, product, and technology leaders to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
• Set the technical vision and establish engineering practices and standards for the organization.
• Mentor engineers to foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), serverless, and event-driven design.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Englewood Cliffs, NJ office at least 3 days per week.
• Proven experience leading engineering efforts and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of SaaS platforms and Gen AI tools.

Nice to have

• Full-stack development experience (backend, frontend, Cloud, Infrastructure).
• Familiarity with distributed messaging (Kafka, Kinesis) and caching (Redis, ElastiCache).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in media, entertainment, or digital platforms.
